Tonight I had the privilege of watching one of my old school favorite movies, The Parent Trap, thank you TCM. Not the Lindsanity version, were talking Haley Mills and Maureen O'Hara.
It's was interesting to watch this classic now as an adult and observed a few "new tid bits."
1. Was camp really like this at one point in time? Uniforms? Mess halls? Bunkmates with names like Betsy and Ursula? Demerits?
2. Annette Funicello, I heart you.
3. The dresses at the Camp Thunderhead dance are a-mazing. If I could only wear dresses like that on a daily basis.
4. Really, as punishment they are going to put the two of you in a lone cabin together? I highly doubt this disciplinary action would be taken so lightly in present day. And what up with everyone following you, whistling, and swinging their arms. Still don't get that.
5. To switch places is a scathingly brilliant idea--and for two 13 year olds to concoct such a plan amazes me. But for Sharon to chop her lovely locks for said plan...wow, that takes guts.
6. I still believe the Dad is incredibly handsome and that house in Cali, stunning.
7. Maureen O'Hara fabulous, absolutely fabulous.
8. "Who is this ecstatic, bright-eyed, child? This angelic girl? You're an adorable thing." - Edna Robinson
9. You two bust up your Dad's future marriage--and he's not the least bit angry? He just sits on the counter sipping some liquor? Geez, wish my Dad was like that back in the day.
10. Still love the ending, when Mom and Dad are getting married--and Sharon and Susan are the bridesmaids...ahh if only life were so sweet!
